Carts of Darkness
Twelve years since a car accident made him quadriplegic, extreme sports filmmaker Murray Siple felt the familiar rush of excitement when he discovered cart-racing. ‘Carts of Darkness’ depicts a subculture that makes use of shopping carts as props for racing down the steep hills of North Vancouver. The feature also draws attention to the homeless men from Canada who race carts as they go in and out of prison, battling addiction, abject poverty, and the stereotypes portrayed in mainstream media.
